Deputies Responded To Haas Road Area After Conductor Reported Hitting Someone On The Tracks A man was killed Sunday night on April 26, after he was struck by a train near Slidell, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were sent to the area of Haas Road near U.S. Highway 11 shortly before 7:30 p.m. after the train’s conductor reported hitting a person on the tracks, according to sheriff’s office information published by multiple local outlets. When deputies arrived, they found the victim in the grass east of the tracks. Authorities have not publicly released the man’s identity. Human Remains Found Near Slidell Retention Pond, Investigation Underway
Authorities Say Foul Play Is Not Currently Suspected Human skeletal remains were discovered Monday afternoon near a retention pond in the Slidell area, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office. The remains were found at about 4 p.m. near Indiana Avenue and U.S. 11 after a person fishing in the area alerted authorities, according to published reports citing the sheriff’s office. The St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office was notified, and the remains were turned over to LSU’s Forensic Anthropology and Computer Enhancement Services, or FACES, Laboratory, which assists law enforcement agencies and coroners in identifying human remains in Louisiana.
