St. Tammany Fundraisers Benefit Cancer Care, Safe Harbor and the Arts

Residents across St. Tammany Parish will have several opportunities this weekend to support cancer care, domestic violence services and local arts through fundraising events in Covington and Slidell. Community organizations and event hosts are bringing together family activities, live entertainment, local vendors and charitable giving on Friday, Sept. 18, and Saturday, Sept. 19. Each event supports a different cause, giving residents options based on their interests, location and schedule.

Louisiana Jeep Jam Supports Cancer Care

Louisiana Jeep Jam will take place Friday, Sept. 18, and Saturday, Sept. 19, at the St. Tammany Parish Fairgrounds in Covington. Organizers describe the two-day event as a family-oriented fundraiser benefiting patients of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.

Friday activities are scheduled from 6 to 10 p.m. and include a sound competition. Saturday activities run from noon to 4 p.m. and include a Jeep show, vendor area, raffles and a 50/50 drawing. The schedule gives attendees the option to visit during either evening or daytime hours.

The St. Tammany Parish Fairgrounds serves as a central gathering place for community events in Covington, making the venue accessible to residents from several parts of western and central St. Tammany Parish.

Canvas & Chords Highlights Local Arts

Canvas & Chords will bring artists, musicians and vendors to TerraBella Village in Covington from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday. The outdoor event will feature activity along TerraBella Boulevard and around the Town Square area.

Visitors can browse work from local artists, shop handcrafted goods and listen to live music during the four-hour event. Artists associated with the St. Tammany Art Association are expected to participate, and organizers have said a portion of event proceeds will benefit the association.

Admission is free, making Canvas & Chords an accessible option for families and residents who want to support the St. Tammany arts community without purchasing an event ticket. Guests can still support participating artists and vendors through purchases made during the event.

Safe Harbor Gala Supports Domestic Violence Services

The Real Superheroes of Safe Harbor Gala will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Northshore Harbor Center in Slidell. Safe Harbor uses the annual event to recognize community supporters while raising awareness and support for services available to survivors of domestic violence.

The gala will include live music by Four Unplugged, dinner, dancing and live and silent auctions. Guests will also have opportunities to support Safe Harbor through fundraising activities held during the evening.

Safe Harbor provides crisis intervention, emergency shelter, safety planning and advocacy for people affected by domestic, family and dating violence. The organization serves residents in St. Tammany Parish and Washington Parish, giving the fundraiser an impact that extends beyond the Slidell event venue.
