Military Road Alliance Gathering Is Expected Sept. 16 As St. Tammany Voters Prepare For Sheriff, Judicial, School Board And Other Local Races

SLIDELL, La. — Slidell-area residents are expected to have an opportunity to meet candidates seeking public office during a September gathering organized by the Military Road Alliance, an association representing homeowner groups in eastern St. Tammany Parish.

Candidates have been invited to meet with homeowners ahead of Louisiana’s Nov. 3 election, according to a report by NOLA.com. The gathering is designed to give area residents a chance to interact with candidates as several closely watched St. Tammany Parish races move into the fall campaign season.

The Military Road Alliance returned earlier this year to its longstanding schedule of meeting on the third Wednesday of each month. Based on that schedule, the September meeting falls on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, with the organization’s meetings beginning at 7 p.m.

The group’s regular meeting location is the cafeteria at Boyet Junior High School on Rebel Drive in Slidell. The Military Road Alliance temporarily moved its July meeting to the St. Tammany Parish Levee Board building because the school cafeteria was unavailable, but described that change as temporary.

Earlier 2026 Military Road Alliance meeting announcements say the organization’s gatherings are open to the public. The group is led by President Robert Broome and has been described in its meeting notices as an umbrella organization for about a dozen homeowner associations in eastern St. Tammany Parish.

Who Will Be There?

A complete list of candidates who have accepted invitations to the September meet-and-greet has not been independently confirmed. An invitation does not necessarily mean a candidate has committed to attend, so Slidell Times is not listing candidates as confirmed participants unless their attendance can be verified.

There will be no shortage of local races for residents to ask about. According to the St. Tammany Parish Registrar of Voters, the Nov. 3 ballot includes the St. Tammany Parish sheriff race, elections for 22nd Judicial District Court Divisions E, G and H, several St. Tammany Parish School Board seats and the East St. Tammany City Court judge and marshal races.

The ballot also includes U.S. Senate, U.S. House District 1, Public Service Commission District 1, Board of Elementary and Secondary Education District 1 and a series of proposed constitutional amendments.

The Louisiana Secretary of State says the Nov. 3 election will be followed by an open general election on Dec. 12 where required.

Why This Matters In Slidell

The gathering gives residents in Slidell and surrounding eastern St. Tammany communities an opportunity to hear directly from candidates before early voting begins.

Early voting for the Nov. 3 election is scheduled for Oct. 20 through Oct. 27, excluding Sunday, Oct. 25, according to the Louisiana Secretary of State. Polls on Election Day are scheduled to be open from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m.

The Military Road Alliance has regularly hosted public officials and community leaders at its meetings, with past programs covering drainage, flood protection, economic development, taxes, libraries and other issues affecting residents east of Slidell.

Residents planning to attend should watch for a final Military Road Alliance announcement confirming the September venue and participating candidates before the event.
